Fly, Sophie! is the 12th episode of PriPara, and it first aired on September 20th, 2014.
Aware of the upcoming ceremony, Laala is more motivated than ever to free Sophie from her Cage before its too late. But a dispute with Mirei causes things to worsen as she tries to get her and everyone else to realize Sophie is unhappy and needs help.
Outside of PriPara Mirei is quick to scold Laala for her rash decision. Laala tries to get her to listen, but instead Mirei turns on the PriPara News Program to reveal the unit with Sophie will be officially formed the next day. Sophie has already chose a caged life and just trying to do anything will cause problems, so she orders Laala to stop so that they can focus on beating her new team to win the Grand Prix. She then brings up Dorothy before taking off, only for Laala to tell her that while Mirei may act like this she knows the situation with Sophie is just as wrong as she does. But Mirei says nothing, which causes Laala to get angry with her.
In her bedroom, Sophie awakens the following morning after having a depressing dream. Cosmo comes in and begins to brush her hair, then after recalling the message from Mirei, she tells Sophie of it. This message reaches Sophie, but she doesn't entirely understand what she could do now. Cosmo reaches out to her sister by saying that no matter what choice she makes though, she will always support her.
Laala rushes over to Prism Stone to find that a message has been set up for them, with Nao, Non, and Mirei's parents cheering them on. Laala is very surprised, but she thanks them while they run into PriPara. Where, Kuma has also set up the backstage for them while they announce the official teams. He even opened a drink all the way from 2004 to celebrate, and he goes on to say that he is sure Laala will like Dorothy as well. But Laala asks for more time and leaves to talk to Sophie one final time. They refuse and Mirei calls Sophie a coward before stating they are entering with Dorothy whether she likes it or not.
Elsewhere, Sophie has been preparing for her ceremony announcement. She is very unhappy and remains unresponsive, but after she eats one of the pickled plums, she suddenly claims to be fine. This catches everyone off guard, knowing the truth and Chanko voices concern as they notice her mood falter.
Laala comes to find many reporters, of both the human and animal variety awaiting for the ceremony to begin. She locates the waiting room but Usagi throws her out, saying she isn't invited to attend the event. He slams the door on her, but Laala attempts to get someone to hear her. Luckily, the door is answered by Chanko, and after she realizes what Laala's plan is, she invites her inside.
Soon the lights inside the big room turn out, while specials lights form at the front of it. Music begins to play, the audience is seated, and the twins have been brought onto the center-stage as Sophie's fan club stand in a line before it. Usagi introduces himself to announce that the formation ceremony is starting. Unknown to anyone Laala has sneaked inside and is dressed as a fan club member. New and Mew are introduced to everyone, and then when it comes for Sophie to arrive, she is slowly brought down to everyone. Laala is very surprised by the event, and the team name is then announced and explained to everyone. New and Mew are very upset by the name chosen, since their names are only the "EE" part at the end, but they quietly complain instead of making a big fuss. Laala happens to overhear it though and is very concerned over Sophie's relationship with the twins as everyone applauded the new team.
Mirei and Kuma watch from the backstage room. Both of them are unhappy over things and attempt to try to write it off- only to show concern instead. They are interrupted by Dorothy, who has brought along her twin sister, Leona. They are caught off guard to see Leona, because they only needed one person, not two. But that leaves a problem because Leona and Dorothy are a combined package. This frustrates Mirei, while Dorothy stubbornly tries to get them to listen. With that, Mirei and Kuma disqualify her from joining the team.
Usagi announces the friends ticket exchange, which shall complete the entire event. Sophie is still unhappy, but she thinks this is for the best since she would always be useless otherwise. Laala is in a panic but has no idea what to do now as the ceremony continues.
At the performance area, Mirei and Kuma are beyond shocked to learn that they have been disqualified for not being a three team group. Mirei asks that Meganee just ignore it this once, but she simply refuses since it is the system, which she has no control over. She then stamps the cards with a disqualification stamp, which causes Mirei a huge amount of grief and she starts crying. Kuma attempts to help her but it fails.
As the exchange is almost finished, Laala suddenly bursts onto the top of the stage. She shocks everyone by asking Sophie if this is really want she wants to do, while Usagi yells at her and summons his panda guards to rid of her. They proceed to do so, but Laala calls out to Sophie in hopes she would reach out to her anyway. Due to the interruption, they then call commercial to try to rid of the awkward feeling while Usagi attempts to explain what happened.
Laala calls the depressed Mirei and tells her to meet her on floor eleven. Mirei tells her there isn't any point, so she should give up, but Laala refuses to give up until the very end. She tells Mirei to meet her on floor eleven and brings up how Mirei gave Sophie her message a few days back. She told Sophie not to give up and she wants her to leave her cage too, but Mirei remains hopeless. Laala reminds Mirei of an idols duty to always make others smile and tells her again which floor to meet her on while running into the elevator.
The friend ticket exchange goes on, but Sophie finds herself unable to finish it. She suddenly realizes something and pulls away, apologizing to everyone before she makes an attempt to leave the room. Usagi tries to stop her by sending his Panda Guards after her, but luckily her an club come to her rescue. This surprises Sophie, who thought they only liked her Idol-side, but they claim to care about her entirely, even if they lost sight of that for a while. With that, Sophie is able to make an escape and Chanko calls Cosmo to inform her of the update.
Sophie makes it into the hallway but finds herself too low on energy, causing her to pass out and revert to normal. She recalls that Laala told her to reach floor eleven and happens to spot the cards Laala left behind. She gets up and forces herself to crawl into the elevator, surprising everyone after it reaches them. They waste no time exchanging their friend tickets to make it official as Kuma, Usagi, and her Fan Club watch from the side.
The girls change into their outfits and Sophie eats a pickled plum before they appear on the stage. As they perform, the fans are very surprised to see Sophie with Laala and Mirei, but they are quick to fall for the new team. They perform the Making Drama, which ends up being the finished version of Sophie's prior Making Drama and love it much more.
After the performance its revealed that the girls won the competition and everyone is much happier now. Except for Usagi, New, and Mew. The twins worry over what they will do when they suddenly spot the enka Idol. Impressed by her presence, they quickly trail behind her to ask about teaming up, not even minding if they were to perform backup for her.
The girls gain their brand new tickets soon after, where Sophie comments on how much fun she had with them. Mirei and Laala are very happy with the turn of events as well, and together the trio share a well deserved laugh.
